When visiting Lhasa, spend one hour at Potala Palace, the world’s largest monastery of its kind and the Dalai Lama’s official residence. After lunch, spend an hour visiting Jokhang Monastery, where monks are officially trained and educated. We can get a glimpse of Tibetan culture and purchase vibrant ethnic goods that are uncommon outside of Tibet at the nearby Jokang Monastery on Barkhor Street, which is one hour away. Drive back to your hotel after that and don’t waste any more time relaxing.

When visiting Potala Palace: One hour is the maximum amount of time that visitors can spend there.
Even on hot days, it is advisable to wear a jacket because the temperature within the palace is lower than the outdoors.

Spend the remainder of the day in your hotel after arriving in Shigatse downtown.

July through September are the ideal months to visit Yamdrok Lake. However, you can miss this lake’s most breathtaking moment if you come here on a wet day. Yamdrok Lake is 105 km away from Lhasa center and takes two hours to drive there.

Drive to Sakya Monastery, the main monastery of the Sakyapa Sect of Tibetan Buddhism, after that. After that, keep driving until Tingri (4300m). Around the evening, you will arrive in Tingri. Spend the night at Tingri. Despite the hotel’s simplicity, the staff is incredibly welcoming.
