We’re going to Nara for the day today. The major sights of Nara are only a short stroll away once you get there. One of the biggest bronze Buddha statues in the world is housed in the Great Hall of the Todaiji Temple, which we will tour. See hundreds of deer grazing throughout Nara Deer Park as you make your way back. The 1,200 deer in Nara have come to represent the city because of the Shinto belief that all living things are divine messengers. You are welcome to eat some of the local cuisine and feed the deer crackers while you are here. as well as their historical activities and adorable deer mementos.

If you can see the tea houses, izakayas, and geisha disappearing down the back alleyways, then proceed to Kyoto, a time capsule of narrow streets. When you arrive, cross the Togetsu Bridge, which has been a symbol of the Arashiyama District of Western Kyoto for more than 400 years. After that, lose yourself in the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest’s fantastical and unearthly splendour. Find a tranquil spot to sit and listen to the rustling, creaking, and sway of trunks that knock against one another, producing a sound that is nearly as serene as anything else, while you glide along wooden roads that wind through thickets of tall bamboo stalks.

After breakfast this morning, explore Nijo Castle and take in the ambiance of this former Tokugawa Shogunate palace.

Later, take in the intricate design that combines the three different architectural styles of Shinden, Samurai, and Zen at the Kinkakuji (Golden Pavilion), a Zen temple and World Heritage site with two floors completely plated in thin layers of pure gold.

Take the renowned Shinkansen bullet train to Mt. Fuji after lunch. Watch as it speeds at a maximum speed of 320 kilometres per hour from Kyoto to Tokyo, passing by glimpses of futuristic skyscrapers, shrines, and verdant meadows. Only the splendour of the cloud-covered Mt. Fuji, which slows time for a peaceful, breathtaking moment, can rival this lightning bolt that defies time.
