Day By Day Itinerary

Day 1Arrive in Beijing; enjoy a free afternoon and dinner of Beijing duck

Today is open to accommodate arrivals on a variety of airlines. We get together for a welcome supper where we can have Beijing duck, one of the most well-known foods in the city. There will be a variety of meals on a lazy Susan for vegetarians to pick from, so don’t worry. All clients arriving at Daxing airport (PKX) or Beijing’s Capital airport (PEK) are eligible for complimentary arrival shuttles. At least two weeks prior to the commencement of the tour, you should schedule transfers with your sales agent. Lodging: Dong Fang Hotel (or something such)

Day 2After driving to the Great Wall portion of Huanghuacheng, start your trek in the afternoon. (dinner, lunch, and breakfast)

We depart the capital this morning and travel two to three hours northwest of the city to the Great Wall in the countryside. At Huanghuacheng, which has a very scenic location near a lake, we arrive at the less-traveled area. Since the local wild flowers bloom in the summer, the surrounding mountains are covered in yellow, hence the name Huanhuacheng, which means “Yellow Flower City.” Although the terrain is rough and the trek is very difficult today, the vistas are well worth the effort! Near this portion of the wall, we will stay at a guesthouse for the night. Accommodations: Huanghuacheng’s Fengfuyuan Guesthouse (or comparable)

Day 3Trekking via numerous watchtowers in the morning in Mutianyu. (dinner, lunch, and breakfast)

We travel to Mutianyu today for a quick journey of one to one and a half hours. The Wall is a striking sight at this less-traveled location, stretching far into the distance across valleys and mountains. The Mutianyu portion of the Great Wall, which is among its best-preserved sections, was once the northern barrier protecting the imperial tombs and the capital. This 2,250-meter segment has 22 watchtowers, 20 of which are accessible to the general public. We travel to Jiankou village after the Mutianyu stretch to experience the hospitality of a nearby guesthouse. Accommodations: Jiankou’s Mr. Zhao Guesthouse (or comparable)

Day 4Trek at the "Wild Wall" in Jiankou (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

With turrets clinging impossible to the steepest of hills, the Jiankou wild wall portion, which was constructed along a mountain edge, is still entirely wild. An optional short steep climb to the top of the wall for a panoramic view is one of the day’s highlights, also known as “Spiderman Wall” or “Sanshibadeng” in Chinese. Those who are not fond of heights or climbing can stroll around and reassemble at the viewpoint. Because of its distinctive construction style and breathtaking environment, this part of the Great Wall is the one that is photographed the most. We spend around time walking along this section.4.5 kilometres in the afternoon after walking 4 km in the morning and returning to the guesthouse for lunch. We can choose to watch the sunset from the wall. Accommodation: Jiankou’s Mr. Zhao Guesthouse (or something such)

Day 5 Go to Jinshanling and hike the stretch of the Great Wall that is located there. (dinner, lunch, and breakfast)

We walk the entire length of the Jinshanling Great Wall section today, which is known for being among the best-preserved portions of the Great Wall and dates from the Ming Dynasty (1368–1644). It runs from Erchi Tower to Zhuandoukou Tower. This portion zigzags between the Big and Small Jinshan Mountains, reaching seven meters high and six meters broad. It has two beacon towers, sixty-seven watchtowers, and five main passes (the Big and Small Jinshan Watchtowers being the highlight). This portion contains a variety of structures that served a variety of purposes, from weapon depots to soldiers’ bedrooms. The construction is made of enormous bricks, each weighing around 12 kilogrammes (26 pounds). Lodging: Jinshanling’s Xiaocui Guesthouse (or comparable)

Day 6Today's most difficult stroll along the Gubeikou section (breakfast, lunch, and dinner)

We walk to Panlongshan today from Zhuanduokou Tower along the Gubeikou portion of the wall. This section will take us back to the Han Dynasty while preserving the wall’s original character. Until we get at the distinctive 24 Window Tower (a three-story tower), we will pass numerous watchtowers. Lodging: Gubeikou’s Yeshufang Guesthouse (or comparable)

Day 7The Great Wall's Panlongshan section (lunch, breakfast)

From Panlongshan North Gate, we will make our way to the main entrance on foot. After our stroll along this section of the wall, we will return to Beijing by car in roughly three hours. Lodging: Dong Fang (or comparable)

Day 8Tour of Beijing that includes stops at the Forbidden City, Tiananmen Square, and the Hutongs. (breakfast)

To observe what remains of ancient Beijing and its customs, we go on a morning walking tour through the hutongs, or small lanes, of the city. We also go to Tian’anmen Square, which is the biggest square in the world and can accommodate more than a million people. We go to the Forbidden City, which has countless courtyards and temples, later in the day. The fantastic Beijing opera or a Kung Fu show are suggested optional activities for this evening. You can also choose to get a foot reflexology massage to relieve your tired feet. A farewell supper will also be planned by the leader (optional). It’s great to tour Beijing at your own leisure; When making your reservation, please ask your sales representative whether you would want to put on any more time. Take note The Forbidden City’s daily visiting cap has been drastically lowered since the Covid-19 outbreak, which has affected ticket availability. In the event that our local team is unable to obtain tickets to the Forbidden City, we will visit the Temple of Heaven and the Ancestral Temple, which was used to present sacrifices to ancestors during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and shares architectural similarities with the Forbidden City. If this adjustment needs to be made, you will be informed at the beginning of the journey. Lodging: Dong Fang (or comparable)

Day 9Finish Beijing (breakfast)

After breakfast today, our journey comes to a conclusion in Beijing. All clients leaving from Daxing airport (PKX) or Beijing’s Capital airport (PEK) are eligible for complimentary departure shuttles. At least two weeks prior to the commencement of the tour, you should schedule transfers with your sales agent.

Price Includes

  • Accommodation During your trek, you will stay in basic guesthouses for five nights and a hotel in Beijing for three nights. Please be advised that there aren't many lodging options available along the journey, and the guesthouses only provide basic mountain lodging. The rooms include private bathrooms and are twin-shared. Western toilets are provided in the bathrooms, and hot water is available, however it can be inconsistent and unpredictable at times. Although the guesthouses lack central heating and it can get chilly in the highlands, blankets are given, so sleeping bags are not necessary. Electric warmers are typically supplied upon request. Although there is electricity, there may be outages from time to time, so a torch will be useful.
  • Lead the tour leader at all times.
  • Included are all breakfasts, six lunches, and six dinners. In China, food is inexpensive. There are many new flavours and "things" to sample in the incredibly diverse food on this journey. "Tourist hotels" and "local hotels" are the two categories into which the journey can be separated gastronomically. Breakfast in tourist hotels is typically a buffet with a large assortment of Chinese and Western fare, such as coffee, juice, breads, pastries, fruit, eggs, bacon, and a range of stir-fried and noodle meals. Typically, dinners are eaten at the hotel or neighbourhood eateries, which include rice with a variety of vegetables, as well as dishes of pork, fish, chicken, and duck that have flavours that are similar to those you might find in a Chinese restaurant in the UK.
  • Extra Services Every activity and mode of transportation Transfers upon arrival and departure
  • Carry You only need to bring a daypack on your treks because our support vehicle will transport your belongings from hotel to hotel during the walking sections. Since the walking is low altitude and the routes are always near roads, there is no human or animal porterage on this trek; instead, we load the bags into the car. Private minibuses will be used for road transport. Although the majority of the roads are fine, there may be some potholes, so be ready for a bumpy ride in some spots. The majority of driving days are brief—typically lasting no more than four hours.
