Tour Highlight
The Golden Triangle: You cannot miss the Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, and the Hippodrome. They sit within walking distance of each other and represent centuries of Byzantine and Ottoman history. The Basilica Cistern: Often called the "Sunken Palace," this 6th-century underground reservoir features 336 marble columns and the famous Medusa heads. The eerie, mystical lighting makes for incredible photos. Bosphorus Sunset Cruise: This is the only place in the world where you can sail between two continents (Europe and Asia) in minutes. In 2026, private yacht charters or public ferries remain the best way to see the city's skyline and waterfront palaces. The Grand Bazaar & Spice Market: While the Grand Bazaar is a labyrinth of 4,000+ shops, the Spice Market (Egyptian Bazaar) is often preferred for its authentic aromas of saffron, Turkish delight, and local teas.Cappadocia weather is finicky. If the balloons are a priority, book your flight for your very first morning in Cappadocia. If the wind is too high, the civil aviation authority will cancel flights, and you’ll want that second morning as a "safety" slot.
Day By Day Itinerary

Day 1The Heart of Istanbul (Old City)

Explore the Blue Mosque and the Hagia Sophia in the morning. Admire the architecture at the intersection of East and West.

Visit the Hippodrome and Topkapi Palace, the former residence of the Ottoman Sultans, in the afternoon.

Nighttime: Before taking a nighttime flight to Cappadocia (from Kayseri or Nevşehir airport), get lost at the Grand Bazaar for some souvenir shopping.

Stay: In Göreme or Uçhisar, check into your cave hotel.

Day 2Cappadocia’s "Red Tour" & Pottery

Sunrise: Hot Air Balloon Ride Optional. This is the ideal day to try, although Day 3 is still an option if bad weather prevents it.

Morning: See historic churches built out of the rocks at the Göreme Open-Air Museum.

Afternoon: Visit the most recognizable “fairy chimney” rock formations at Pasabag (Monks Valley) and Devrent (Imagination Valley).

Experience: See a demonstration of traditional pottery-making in Avanos.

Day 3Underground Cities & Valleys (Green Tour)

Morning: Go down into the Derinkuyu or Kaymakli Underground City, where hundreds of people used to reside in order to flee assailants.

In the afternoon, hike through the verdant Ihlara Valley or enjoy the expansive vistas from the region’s highest point, Uçhisar Castle.

Evening: Unwind with a sunset supper overlooking Pigeon Valley or a traditional Turkish Night performance.

Day 4Bosphorus & Departure

Return to Istanbul by plane in the morning.

Afternoon: Take a Bosphorus cruise to see the city from the water—the perfect final view of Istanbul’s palaces and bridges.

Evening: Before you travel abroad, do some last-minute shopping at the Spice Market.
