Step back in time as you explore Vietnam's rich history, cruise through Halong Bay, learn about Hoa Lu's past, and bike through its scenic landscapes. Explore old Hoa Lu, Vietnam's ancient capital, which is home to elaborately carved temples dedicated to the founding kings. Cycling from Tam Coc to the picturesque Bich Dong Pagoda allows you to explore the countryside on two wheels. Cruise across Halong Bay, a UNESCO World Heritage site surrounded by stunning limestone karsts and emerald waters.

Embark on an unforgettable 5-day journey through Vietnam, featuring a serene boat ride to the stunning Tam Coc caves. This itinerary combines cultural exploration, breathtaking landscapes, and culinary delights, making it a perfect getaway.

Day By Day Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Hanoi | Leisure Day

Begin your Vietnam trip when you arrive at Noi Bai International Airport and are transferred to your hotel for check-in. Spend the remainder of the day at leisure, exploring surrounding sites on your own. Visit the Ngoc Son Temple, which is dedicated to General Tran Hung Dao, a Vietnamese hero. Admire the iconic red The Huc Bridge that leads to the temple, and take in the calm views of Hoan Kiem Lake. End the day by returning to the hotel on your own for an overnight stay.

Day 2Excursion to Ninh Binh

Begin this day by onboarding your pre-booked transfer for a day trip to Ninh Binh city. Visit the Hoa Lu temples, the ancient capital of Vietnam, once home to the Dinh and Le Dynasties, after whom many attractions in the area are named. Afterwards, explore the limestone caves of Tam Coc on a boat ride (at an extra cost) from Hao Lu. From there, enjoy a cycling adventure to Bich Dong Pagoda before getting transferred to the hotel for an overnight stay.

Day 3Halong Bay Overnight Cruise

Get ready for a cruise adventure after checking out of the hotel and getting transferred to Halong Bay. Upon arrival, embark on a Halong Bay cruise at Tuan Chau Harbour. Stop by Ti Top Island and Pearl Farm Village to enjoy recreational activities like kayaking and swimming. Also, learn how to cook Vietnamese cuisine onboard. Conclude your day with an overnight stay in the cabin as the cruise glides through the limestone karst (hollowed rock formations) and pristine waters of Halong Bay.

Day 4Transfer to Hanoi | Leisure Day

As a new day dawns, continue your Halong Bay adventure by engaging in a Tai Chi (martial art) lesson and visiting the largest caves of Halong Bay, the Surprise Caves (also called the Sung Sot Cave). Following that, deboard the cruise, get transferred to Hanoi and check in at the hotel. Spend the rest of the day at leisure by exploring attractions like Ho Chi Minh’s Mausoleum and the Temple Of Literature on your own. Later, return to the hotel on your own for an overnight stay.

Day 5Departure Day

Your Vietnam trip concludes as you check out from the hotel and get transferred to the Noi Bai International Airport for your departure. Have a safe journey ahead!

The excursion to the old capital’s temples is average…not remarkable, but entirely original. The boat excursion down the Ngo Dong River to see Tam Coc – The Three Caves – is worthwhile. The view is breathtaking, but at the turnaround point, there are some floating stores that urge you buy drinks for the rower. Having an extra bottle of water/beer and chocolate/biscuits tends to negate the attempted forced purchase. Our rower also presented his own box of goodies for purchase! And they insist on a tip… It’s all pretty tiring.

We enjoyed the city because it is a fantastic base for exploring the surrounding area. Day travels from Hanoi are not worth it. You may visit Tam Coc, Bich Dong, Hoa Lu Temple, and Bai Dinh, the largest complex of Buddhist temple.

This is a good tour, well-organised, with a guide who speaks reasonable English. Travelling in comfort. I would suggest.

It was a fun and relaxing trip down the river. For nearly an hour, I enjoyed the lovely view while watching our boat conductor foot paddle. Until the photographers showed up. After the boat ride, I was tracked down to buy the images this person shot.
